As I walked across the beach, the still silence engulfed me like a fire was to engulf a forest in flames. It was so quiet. After all of the commotion for the past few days and nights, it was incredible how nothing was happening. I looked up at the sky. Puffy white clouds rolled across the scintillating blue sky.

I couldn’t hear any more of the canons going off, signaling the death of anymore tributes. In the last hour or so, six had dies but after that, I heard nothing.

Wait, I hear nothing. Other than the soft sound of the ocean rolling in, the breeze through the trees and the distant chirp of birds, I heard nothing. That means that I’m the only one left. I was the only one left in the 8-th hunger games. I made it!             “Mama I made it!” I said quietly aloud. My eyes welled up with tears as I thought about how proud my mom would be. Not only my mom, my dad would also be proud. My mom, my dad, my whole district would be overwhelmed with joy.  I couldn’t believe I had actually made it.  I wiped the tears off my face and walked with my head held a little higher than before.

  1. I thought your post was really well written. I really liked how you referred back to your family, and how you felt stronger knowing that you might survive until the end of the games. over all I thought you did a great job.

  2. Well, you already know that this went by way too fast. The attention getter was great though! I love how you used figurative language in the opening sentence. Also, I love how you ended the piece. Good job.

  3. I liked how you described the people that you would make proud. There were a couple of spelling errors that you could read over to make sure there aren’t any. “I was the only one left in the 8-th hunger games.” and “In the last hour or so, six had dies but after that, I heard nothing.”
